SETTORE INDUSTRIALE - Il sito produttivo di Kervo, Olanda

 

Kervo e' uno dei maggiori produttori alimentare di tutti i Paesi Bassi. Dal 1980 le ciliegie Morello vengono coltivate nei frutteti della famiglia Vossen a Roggel, che e' stata tra i primi coltivatori della regione ad utilizzare la raccolta meccanica negli anni '80. A distanza di 43 anni, Kervo gestisce oggi diverse attivita' in tutta Europa e nel Regno Unito ed vanta un'ottima reputazione per la qualita' dei prodotti.

 

L'azienda installatrice olandese JTI Brandbeveiliging, responsabile di questo progetto, e' stata fondata nel 2009 e gode della fiducia dei suoi clienti per la consulenza, l'installazione, e la manutenzione dei sistemi antincendio in tutto il Paese. Il team, guidato da Luciën van Eldijk, e' stato incaricato di progettare e installare il sistema di sicurezza antincendio che sarebbe stato integrato nel nuovo stabilimento produttivo di Kervo a Neer.

 

Una delle complessita' del progetto consisteva nel fatto che durante la produzione di alimenti, e in particolare durante i processi di pulizia, si generano notevoli quantita' di vapore che possono causare falsi allarmi. Lucien spiega come hanno ovviato a questo problema:

 

"In siti di produzione alimentare come questo e' essenziale che i macchinari rimangano puliti durante l'intero processo. Cio' significa che sono presenti molto vapore e acqua, che purtroppo possono innescare falsi allarmi. Avevamo bisogno di dispositivi che potessero evitare questo problema e i pulsanti, i segnalatori acustici e i rivelatori Hochiki, resistenti alle intemperie, si sono dimostrati la soluzione perfetta. Hanno funzionato perfettamente, gestiti dalla centrale Latitude di Hochiki".

 

Latitude, certificata EN54-13, che ha ottenuto, tra le altre, anche la certificazione BOSEC per l'Olanda, ha una potente capacita' di causa-effetto a livello di rete. Il sistema e' in grado di supportare 5.000 voci, con un massimo di 20.000 ingressi e 20.000 uscite nella rete.

Il nuovo edificio di Kervo e' una struttura enorme, con un'altezza di oltre 40 metri, che ha richiesto oltre 2,5 km di cablaggio e centinaia di dispositivi di rivelazione incendi per contribuire alla sicurezza dell'edificio.

 

"A causa della complessita' di questo progetto, ci sono stati alcuni aspetti tecnici per i quali abbiamo dovuto chiedere supporto, ma il team di Hochiki e' stato molto disponibile a lavorare con noi per fornire la soluzione migliore. Kervo is a specialist in high quality cultivation and processing of fruit in the Netherlands. Since 1980 Morello cherries have been grown in the Vossen family’s orchards in Roggel, The Netherlands. The family were one of the first growers in the region to use mechanical harvesting in the 80’s, fast forward 43 years later and Kervo now runs operations across Europe and the UK and is proud of its reputation for offering the finest quality fruit to bakeries and fresh food processors.

 

JTI Brandbeveiliging was founded in 2009 and is trusted by its customers for advice, installations, repairs and maintenance of fire protection systems across the region. The team, led by Luciën van Eldijk was commissioned to design and fit the fire safety system that would be integrated into Kervo's new manufacturing plant in Neer.

 

One of the complexities of this project was that during food production, and particularly during the cleaning processes, significant amounts of steam is generated leading to false alarms. Lucien explains how he and the team navigated this issue:

“In food production sites like this it is essential for the machinery to remain clean throughout the entire process. This means there is a lot of steam and water present, which unfortunately, can trigger false alarms. We needed to install devices that could negate this issue, Hochiki’s weatherproof call points, sounders and sensors were the perfect solution. They worked seamlessly with the Latitude fire safety system from Hochiki.”

 

Latitude, which is BOSEC approved, a requirement for fire detection devices and systems in The Netherlands, has a powerful network-wide cause and effect capability. The system has capacity to support 5000 entries, with up to 20,000 inputs and 20,000 outputs across the network. The new building at Kervo is a huge facility, at over 40 metres in height it required over 2.5km of cabling and hundreds of fire detection devices to help make the building secure, making the Latitude system the best solution.
