Set on the iconic shores of Italy’s Lake Garda, Campeggio del Garda is a popular campsite that attracts tourists from around the globe to its picturesque location. Hochiki Italia’s Totem solution was specified to protect the idyllic campsite and provide occupants with an ideal level of outdoor protection.

 

Campeggio del Garda is located on the water’s edge of Lake Garda, one of Italy’s most picturesque lakes and holiday hotspots. Offering a range of bungalows and mobile homes as well as camping and mobile home pitching areas, it’s clear why this campsite has become a must-visit attraction for tourists. With on-site facilities such as a swimming pools, a restaurant and sports courts, the 3,000 guests the site can accommodate are able to enjoy complete luxury during their stay.

 

In need of an updated emergency evacuation system, Italian-based designers, Studio Albertini, were brought on board to specify a suitable range of life safety devices to protect the site’s guests and employees.

 

Owner and lead contact for the project, Paolo Albertini said:

 

"It was essential for Campeggio del Garda that the solution would be complex enough to deal with the scale of their facilities, but also waterproof to accommodate for outdoor protection. Understanding the high-level of expertise that would be required for such a project, we worked alongside life safety manufacturer, Hochiki Italia, to supply the best and safest solution possible. In this case, their unique Totem system was specified.”

 

Going the distance

 

Studio Albertini and Hochiki Italia collaborated closely on the project to specify a life safety system that could be installed across the expansive accommodation facility.

 

Mirko Corsini, Project Manager at Hochiki Italia, said:

 

“Due to the sheer size of the camping area, we decided to manage the system through two networked panels by using the master/slave function of the device.

 

“Combining this intelligent system with the 31 Totem call points that were installed throughout the campsite, we were able to provide a fully integrated and accessible network that covered the entirety of the park. Each Totem is fully waterproof to allow for operation all year around and contains a CHQ -WSB2 sounder beacon, warning signs, multilingual fire safety instructions as well as a UNI ISO 7010 signal call point, as requested by the Ministerial Decree.”

 

Hochiki Italia’s Totem system is ideal for large scale projects, as was the case at Campeggio del Garda. Being able to work from multiple networked panels, the system can be divided into zones to make the connection and detection more secure and reliable. This means it can then be operated and monitored from a singular control panel that includes a digital display screen for complete visibility of the status of the various call points. From this panel, duty holders can test, activate and identify any incidents for around the clock safety while reducing operational costs for large premises.

 

The Totem’s call points are placed evenly across the facility to make sure they are accessible for all guests and are within a reachable distance at all times. The call points can be activated by guests or members of staff and can act as a beacon to communicate with guests.

 

A high-flying solution

 

Totem is fully complaint with Italy’s Ministerial Decree 28.02 2014 and Circ. Prot.n. 0011002 - 12/9/2014 in relation to the safety of guests in open air, tourist accommodation. The decree states that all existing accommodation facilities must adopt the appropriate method of fire detection and fighting in spaces of more than 400 people.

 

A clear part of the guidance is that call points should be distributed within 80m of each other and well-lit with multi-lingual fire instructions. At the same time, the alarm signal coming from any of the detectors or call points must determine the optical and acoustic fire alarm signal at a manned place during the hours of activity. The signal and call point functionalities of Hochiki Italia’s Totem system work perfectly in line these requirements, making them suitable for a range of outdoor environments.

Situato sulle iconiche rive del Lago di Garda, il “Campeggio del Garda” è una struttura molto conosciuta che attira turisti da tutto il mondo. Per proteggere il camping e i suoi ospiti è stato scelto il sistema di evacuazione di emergenza Totem di Hochiki Italia.

 

Situato nei pressi di uno dei laghi e luoghi di villeggiatura più pittoreschi d'Italia, il camping offre un’ampia gamma di bungalow e case mobili, nonché aree di piazzola per camper e roulottes, e negli anni è diventato un'attrazione imperdibile per moltissimi turisti. I 3.000 occupanti che il sito può ospitare possono godere del lusso completo durante il loro soggiorno, con accesso a numerosi servizi e strutture ricreative tra cui piscine, un ristorante e campi sportivi.

 

Con l’obiettivo di adeguare normativamente il sistema di evacuazione di emergenza, i progettisti dello Studio Albertini di Verona sono stati incaricati di individuare una gamma di dispositivi di sicurezza antincendio che potesse proteggere al meglio gli ospiti e lo staff del camping.

 

Paolo Albertini, proprietario dello Studio Albertini, nonché referente del progetto, ha commentato:

 

“Per il Campeggio del Garda abbiamo cercato una soluzione in grado di gestire un sito così ampio e complesso e di garantire la resistenza alle condizioni meteo, trattandosi di una struttura all’aperto. Comprendendo l'elevato livello di competenza specifica necessario per questo tipo di progetto, abbiamo scelto di lavorare a fianco di Hochiki Italia, produttore di sistemi per la rivelazione incendio, per poter fornire al committente la soluzione migliore e più sicura possibile. Per questo progetto è stato scelto il loro sistema Totem."

 

Studio Albertini e Hochiki Italia hanno collaborato strettamente al progetto per predisporre un sistema di evacuazione di emergenza che potesse essere installato in tutta l’ampia struttura ricettiva.

“Considerata la vastità dell’area del campeggio, abbiamo scelto di gestire il sistema attraverso due centrali collegate in rete, utilizzando la loro funzione master / slave.

 

Combinando questo sistema intelligente con i 31 Totem installati in tutto il camping, siamo stati in grado di fornire una rete completamente integrata in grado di coprire l'intera area.

 

Su ogni Totem sono installati un pulsante manuale con istruzioni multilingua e segnaletica UNI ISO 7010, come richiesto dal Decreto Ministeriale, e una sirena CHQ-WSB2 in grado di fornire il segnale ottico-acustico in caso di emergenza. I dispositivi hanno un grado di protezione IP65 o superiore, per consentire il funzionamento tutto l’anno.”

 

Il sistema Totem di Hochiki Italia è ideale per progetti su larga scala, come nel caso del Campeggio del Garda. Potendo collegare più centrali in rete, il sistema può essere diviso in zone e rendere la connessione più sicura e affidabile. Il sistema può essere tuttavia gestito e monitorato da un solo pannello di controllo che permette di controllare contemporaneamente lo stato di tutti i Totem installati nell’area. In questo modo, i responsabili della sicurezza possono testare, attivare e identificare eventuali incidenti o emergenze 24 ore su 24, riducendo così i costi operativi.

 

I punti di chiamata d’emergenza Totem sono posizionati in modo uniforme in tutta la struttura per assicurare che siano accessibili e visibili da tutti gli ospiti e dal Personale in qualsiasi momento.

 

Una soluzione di alto livello

 

Totem è totalmente conforme con quanto indicato dal Decreto Ministeriale 28.02 2014 e la Circ. Prot.n. 0011002 - 09/12/2014 in materia di gestione delle emergenze per strutture turistico-ricettive all’aperto. Il decreto stabilisce che tutte le strutture esistenti con capienza oltre le 400 persone devono adottare un sistema adeguato di evacuazione di emergenza. Come indicato dal Decreto, l’area a campeggio deve essere dotata di segnalatori del tipo a pulsante manuale opportunamente distribuiti ed ubicati a distanza reciproca non superiore a 80m. La segnalazione di allarme deve determinare una segnalazione ottica e acustica presso un luogo presidiato durante le ore di attività.
